This family run Architectural practice was established in 1985 by the founder Ray Angell-Schau. The business, then named “Angell-Schau Design Services” was situated in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal. In 2001, Ray’s son Leon Angell-Schau, who had a passion for Architecture since he was a young boy, took over from his father, and is now the owner. The practice went through a name change in 2001, and today ADS (Architectural Design Studio) is situated in the neighboring town of Richards Bay. Leon’s passion for Architecture is inspired by his need for practical solutions with all things in his life. He studied Technical Architecture and runs the business as a professional Architectural Technologist, registered at SACAP (South African Council for the Architectural Profession).
Under Leon's guidance, his sister Kerry and Leon’s wife Sofie, have joined the practice, and together have grown it into a family legacy. Each member of the family has established their own reputation within the design industry showcasing their talents in architecture, building and business management. All team players have a vast knowledge in South African Legislation and town planning.
Together with the team of talented and enthusiastic designers, draftspersons and experienced support staff, the practice has grown into a professional organisation with the trusted, recognised brand name ADS. While creating unique homes for unique tastes, the practice strives to capture every client’s vision and express it through breathtaking designs, always ensuring that the client’s budget is adhered to.
